Falls, Waimano

Distance from Laie:38 Miles (61.18 km)
Avg. Time to do activity:   2 Hours

Waimano Falls is located in Perl City and accessible from both the North Shore route and the Windward route. See the map below and follow the blue arrows. Both routes are about equal in distance from Laie.
If you take the North Shore route eventually you will get on the H2 Freeway heading South. At the freeway interchange go East on H1 (Toward Honolulu). If you take the Windward route head toward Kaneohe and take the H3 Freeway toward Pearl City. The H3 will intersect with the H1 and you will want to head West on the H1.
Get off the H1 freeway in Pearl City (Exit 10) and onto Moanalua Rd. Follow the road to Waimano Home Rd. and turn right. Drive down Waimano Home road for a few blocks until the road intersects with Komo Mai Dr. There will be a chappel with three big crosses on the lawn at the left corner of this intersection. Turn left on Komo Mai Dr. and follow it until it ends. (It will go down a little canyon, back up the ridge and through a residential area.) The trail starts directly at the end of the road.
At the head of the trail is a Check in Station which consists of a few signs and mail box. In the mail box are check in papers that ask for the date, each hikers name, time in & time out, etc. It's a good idea to jot down the info for your own protection.
After about 10 minutes of hiking along the ridge top the trail will come to a sign (photo at right) that points left for the 5 & 3/4 mile summit trail or right for the 3/4 mile Waimano Waterfall trail. If you want to see the waterfall then go right and continue down the trail. Shortly after the sign the trail begins a steep descent into the canyon. It will probably take 20-30 minutes to reach the waterfall. Just below the waterfall is a pool with a short rope for swinging and ledge about 20 up for jumping.
